I just finished creating an ebook collecting the best posts from the first year of Georgia Tech’s blog TECHStyle. This is basically my love letter to the Brittain program and all of the fine people working there. TECHStyle began as an experiment in scholarly communication surrounding technology and teaching at Georgia Tech. Since Brittain Fellows teach students to write in multiple modalities, in blogs and on wikis for example, shouldn’t we also be experimenting with different forms of publication?
I served as head of the Social Media Committee for a year and was proud to associate myself with a creative and intelligent team who was committed to pushing the scholarly envelope at TECH by getting those fellows and faculty who were skeptical to try something different. Members of the 2010-2011 Social Media Committee (without whom this book would not be possible) include Kathryn Crowther, Diane Jakacki, Robin Wharton, Jesse Stommel, Nirmal Trivedi, Andy Famiglietti, Julia Turner, Andrew Cooper, and Rebecca Burnett.
A note: This is my first edited eBook. I’m sure there are typos galore, problems with hyperlinks, images, etc. I can only apologize in advance and hope - as William Blake would say - that you, “[d]ear reader, forgive what you do not approve, & love me for this energetic exertion of my talent.”
